A Time of Change

Book-96

It’s finally happening! After all the unknowns, the prayers, the preparation, the waiting, I’m leaving the county this week.

It all happened quickly. Within about a week’s time, I received the high-level plan for my time in South America. I got official financial requirements and clearance for as long as the plan goes. I registered for language school. And I put in my notice at my job. It’s been a whirlwind!

Friday, I leave for Costa Rica for 6 weeks to take an intensive Spanish course at The Spanish Language Institute. It will be full immersion as I’ll be staying with a Costa Rican couple. Classes are about 3 hours a day Monday through Friday with an additional 2-3 hours of homework a day. It will be hard, but I am looking forward to being able to better speak the language.

After language school, I will be home for the holidays. Then January through October of next year I will be travelling around Peru, Chile, and Colombia. I’m excited to experience life and ministry in all three of these countries!

Thank you for all your prayers, support, and encouragement that have gotten me this far! God is faithful, and I’m looking forward to what He will do in and through me this year.

Please pray for the following:

  • Travel to and from Costa Rica would go smoothly
  • Language acquisition would go well and I wouldn’t get too overwhelmed or discouraged
  • I would be able to build good relationships with my host family and classmates
  • My family would adjust well to my absence
