Meet Jader.

He came to know Christ through the church in La Concha. He was one of the first kids I met there. He’s very sweet, joyful, and goofy. Just over a month ago, he went before the church with tears in his eyes and asked for prayers that his mother, Dominga, who was dying of cancer would come to know Christ. Three weeks ago, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and pleaded with her family to follow God. I had the privilege of meeting Dominga and several other members of her family (including Allison Nicole who fixed my shoe).

The culture of La Concha is very matriarchal. The mothers are the glue that holds the families together as the men are often away for work, drunk or high,  or away with another woman. As a result, Mother’s Day is a big day of celebration in Nicaragua while Father’s Day is not. Mother’s Day in Nicaragua is the 30th of this month. Jader has been planning a special dance and song to peform for his mother at church.

Dominga went to be with Jesus early Wednesday morning.

Please pray for her family during this difficult time, especially as Mother’s Day approaches. Jader is very broken-hearted right now. Please pray that the rest of the family that don’t know Christ would come to place their trust in Him as their Lord and Savior. Please pray for Traci and Carmen (missionaries) as they help the family work through their sorrow.
